Peace In Troubled Times

“Refuse to give in to him, by standing strong in your faith. You know that your Christian family all over the world is having the same kinds of suffering. And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.” 1 Peter 5:9-10 ...

Cambodia Missions Update: More Than Conquerers

"In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:37-38 At this time Cambodia has 122 cases of COVID-19 and all but a few have recovered. We thank God for this. It may be that the high temperatures and scorching sunlight that we usually complain about during this season are helping to keep the virus under control–only God knows for sure. Schools have been shut down until further notice so Benjamin’s school is teaching him online. Churches, bars, theaters, gyms, and casinos and some other businesses are shut down but so far we have not been put under any stay at home orders. So, the three of us are pretty much at home except for shopping, exercise, and errands. ...

I Planted Others Are Watering

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-8 NKJV They say a picture is worth a thousand words. However, this month I have neither. God is doing some cool things in our ministries here in Cambodia but we haven’t been able to take any pictures. Here are a few things that God has been doing that we couldn’t photograph. ...

New Year New Opportunities

For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” Acts 13:47 We thank God for carrying us through 2019- a year with many mountains and valleys. Because of God’s faithfulness in many stressful situations, our faith continues to grow as we begin 2020. Thank you for your prayers for Benjamin especially during his hospitalization for influenza. We are also thankful that no one else caught it from him, especially because the team from Japan came just as he was recovering. Despite this, the team had a blessed time in Cambodia. They were a great encouragement both as prayer and ministry partners. They also were able to bless some poor Cambodian children through a special program in partnership with a local ministry to people who are so poor that they must live in graveyards. ...

A Time For Love

The Love Phnom Penh Festival The Love Phnom Penh Festival (featuring Franklin Graham) took place over the first weekend in December. More than 23,000 attended and more than 1,300 made professions of faith in Christ. Kayo was part of the planning committee for the choir, helped with training, sang, and even sang a short solo part in Japanese. This is a praise report because all three of us were quite sick for the entire week leading up to the festival and we were not sure whether or not Kayo would be healthy enough to be part of the choir or not. But, because of the prayers of our senders she was healthy enough to attend and sing for two of the three nights. ...

"Your (Apologetics) Class Makes It Easier For Me To Share My Faith."

Equipping Students For Evangelism Darryl taught a two week, intensive Apologetics class at Cambodia Bible Institute between October 21 and November 1. The purpose of the class is to help students to gain complete confidence in the Truth of God’s so that they will grow spiritually and evangelize non-believers and equip believers so that they too will love God with their minds in addition to their hearts. The class received very good feedback. One student now hopes to become an Apologetics teacher in the future. Another student has started using information from the class to evangelize and equip the university students who live in his dormitory. Other students gained confidence to share their faith with non-believers. Instead of a final exam, the students made short evangelistic/apologetics videos which Darryl will soon be sharing on social media. ...

"They Threatened My Family and Me With Guns..."

" Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20__And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace." Daniel 3:19-20 NKJV Urgent Prayer Request!: Please pray for my new friend and brother in Christ, “Shadrach” who urgently needs to obtain a job, work permit, and visa in Cambodia to avoid being sent back to Pakistan where his former boss is waiting to murder him (and potentially his wife and two small children as well) because he refused to convert to Islam. The boss even sent several armed henchmen to his house to beat and threaten them for several hours in an attempt to force them to convert, but their faith remained strong so they refused. Now, they are being tested in the fires of Cambodia. They have little savings which is running out, the wife has obtained a job and visas for the two children but Shadrach is still vulnerable to being deported back to Pakistan, unless God blesses him with a job soon. I have done what I can to help him practically (fixed his old laptop and helped him back up the files and shared his situation with my social networks in Cambodia etc.). ...

They Who Have Not Heard Shall Understand.

But at it is written, “They who had no news of Him shall see, and they who have not heard shall understand.” Romans 15:21 NASB Apologetics Class At Cambodia Presbyterian Theological Institute: A testimonial note from Mr. Pov Piseth, Darryl’s former M.Div. student at CPTI. It was such a great opportunity for me to take an Apologetics class with Professor Darryl Record. Through his outstanding guidance in the class, I gained a lot of better understandings and clear pictures about the real meaning of Apologetics. His lecture notes are very well organized . Even when the contents of the lesson are complicated, he tries his best to simplify it in order to make sure that every student is able to understand fully…. I highly recommend Professor Darryl Record. He is the best professor for me. He is also my great counselor when I have something difficult to deal with. He always comforts me and advises me to respect the Lord and trust in Him more. ...
