We have made it to the halfway point of our 6 week school! This last week we had the privilege of learning from Pastor Rob Douglass who shared all about culture, the 10/40 window, unreached, worldview, various religions, and more! Some things that really stood out to us from him classes include:
That 1 in every 200,000 Christians become missionaries to an unreached country. There are 54,000 Evangelical Christians for every 1 unreached people group. There is 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide and 86% of them are unreached. There is 1.18 billion Hindus worldwide and 92% of them are unreached. There is 500 million Buddhist worldwide and 78% of them are unreached. While this may be discouraging and seem like an impossible task, it is a sobering reality and we need to be praying for laborers to go into this plentiful harvest. However, the good news is that God has given the Church the resources necessary to reach the world with the gospel. The Church has roughly 3,000 times the financial resources and 9,000 times the manpower needed to finish the Great Commission! So let’s be in prayer that the church would realize the crisis at hand and wake up to the commission given by Jesus!
Some other things that we did this week include various outreaches helping local Calvary Chapel churches. We could go on and on about the things the Lord has done in our hearts along with the hearts of the people we have been able to minister to. Classes, missionary testimonies, outreaches, a church takeover, and more, is what our week consisted of. Here are a few photos from our outreaches this week.
Although we could share about all the things listed above we thought we would share about what God has done in our hearts over the last few months. Ever since we started dating we have talked about getting married and moving to the mission field. In the last few months, leading up to getting married and now being married, we have been praying often about what our next steps are to be. We plan to start a 1 year missions training program at CCSG in October. Then the hope is that we would move the following year if God opens the door for us to go somewhere. We have several potential opportunities to move overseas and help with ministry’s that have already started.
One of these potential opportunities is to move to the Republic of Georgia with Olivia’s parents (Kurt and Kendall) and serve with them in their ministry. They serve at Calvary Chapel Tbilisi and CCBC Eurasia. We are really considering this as there is lots of opportunity to serve and learn from Kurt and Kendall and the other veteran missionaries serving there. Also, in Georgia there are approximately 16 unreached people groups. Our heart is to, at some point in our lives, serve in an unreached people group. Maybe one in Georgia or maybe somewhere else.
There are approximately 3 billion unreached people in the world. Unreached meaning they don’t have access to the gospel. So even if the unreached person was seeking God, they wouldn’t know a Christian that could tell them about Jesus and they wouldn’t have a local church accessible to them. Also, often they don’t even have access to Christian sources online. These people don’t only not know the gospel but they don’t even have an opportunity to ever hear it. They have never heard of Jesus!
We were able to go on an exposure trip to Indonesia in February and are also praying if it is Gods will for us to move there. There is no ministry started there that we could join so we would start this ministry from scratch. Indonesia has many unreached people groups.
As you can see we are very much in a place of praying and openness to what God has. Please pray with us as we continue in further training. Then Lord willing be sent out after that!
Prayer Requests
Please pray for us as we seek Gods will for our future.
Please continue to pray for us as we serve here in Mexico for the next 4 weeks.
Please continue to pray that God would provide the finances for the tuition for CSOM
Please continue to pray for strengthening in our marriage.
If you have any prayer requests, we would also love to be praying for that so please let us know!
Till the last one knows,
Nathanael and Olivia Douglass

https://archive.sgwm.com/nathanaelandolivia/nathanaelandolivia/2024/07/25/never-heard-about-jesus/

Hello Friends and Family,

This week, along with last week, has been very full. There is no way to fit it all into this letter. It’s been wonderful for both Olivia and I as we grow in our service to God as a married couple.
We went on 3 outreaches this week. the first was an outreach at a dump. I know this sounds crazy, and it is, but there are people living in the dump here in Mexico. This reminds me of the dump that I (Olivia) served at almost weekly for Sunday afternoon church service in Cambodia. Nathanael and I were able to visit that dump last year when we visited Cambodia. although we have both seen people living in a dump, it is still so heartbreaking and hard to see people living in this reality. We were blessed to be able to serve these people with the same love that Jesus loves us. We partnered with the local church Calvary Chapel Homex. This church goes to the dump often and shares Christ with them. We did a pop up church service and 2 people confessed Christ as Lord. One of them was a guy who was actually a satanic colt leader, so we praise God with great joy in our hearts for this soul that was snatched right out of darkness into the light of Christ!
Dump Outreach The second outreach we were able to do was a park outreach. We went around the neighborhood and invited all the people around to come to the nearby park where we were had a clear presentation of the gospel, a skit, children’s programs, face painting, soccer, and more. Through this we were able to share the gospel individually with parents and children, and we were also able to witness one lady come to church on Sunday and confess Jesus as Lord!
Park Outreach the last outreach of the week was at a church nearby called Calvary Chapel La Gloria. there was a great turnout and we did a similar program as we did at the park outreach. Many people heard the word of God and seeds were planted and watered.
Some prayer requests we have include:
Please Pray that the seed fell on fertile soil and that those people would grow in the Lord and produce good fruit. Please Pray that our marriage would continue to be strengthened. Please Pray against sickness for our team as many of us are sick. Please Pray that God would provide the finances we need to pay for the school We would love to be keeping you in our prayers as well, so please let us know how we can be praying for you!
Thank you so much for reading our newsletter and for your prayers!
Till the last one knows,
Nathanael and Olivia Douglass

https://archive.sgwm.com/nathanaelandolivia/nathanaelandolivia/2024/07/17/living-in-a-dump/

Hello again Friends and Family!

We are having an amazing time here in Mexico at CSOM. this week has been packed with lots of mission classes, missioners sharing their testimony, worship and prayer for the nations, outreaches, and much more. The first thing I (Olivia) said to Nathanael was, “it smells like home.” As most of you know, I lived in Cambodia with my family as missionaries for 7 years before I moved to the States for collage. So upon arriving in Mexico, there was a strong sewage/ street food smell that reminded me instantly of Cambodia! In hindsight, I didn’t even realize the smell was a slightly unpleasant one, because to me it was nostalgic. Nathanael just looked at me and laughed!
All that to say, we are super excited to finally be here in Mexico with the team to learn and seek the Lord together. On Sunday we got prayed over and sent out through our church (Calvary Chapel Saving Grace), and later that day we arrived at the Connections House where we will be staying for the next few weeks!
The first couple days have been amazing! We had our first few classes where Pastor Trent laid the foundation for what it looks like to follow Jesus, and what our calling as Christians looks like Biblically to go and preach the gospel to those who have never heard. Our hearts are continually getting stirred and burdened for the unreached!
I (Nathanael) have the opportunity to be the Assistant Director of the the school this summer, so because of that, I have the privilege of not only being able to sit in on the classes and attend all the outreaches, but also to grow and learn what it looks like to lead and serve those around me. I would definitely appreciate a lot of prayer as there are many moving parts!
Something that we are so excited for is being able to learn and serve together as a married couple and see what the Lord might be calling us to in the near future! With that being said, we do have some prayer requests as we believe prayer is the most powerful and helpful way you can partner with us in the gospel and our journey as well!
Please pray:
That the Lord would continue to speak and burden our hearts as well as the other students for the unreached. That we would stay focused and healthy! That we would serve those around us well and be a goldy example to others as a married couple. That the Lord would continue to strengthen our marriage as we serve Him. That He would bless and go before the outreaches we have coming up this week. And that He would continue to provide. We deeply appreciate all the prayers as we know the enemy tries to discourage and ruin any act of obedience to the Lord, especially when it entails saving souls! We would also love to know how we can be praying for you, so please let us know any prayer requests you have as well!
Lastly, we are still in the process of raising the tuition for the school, so if you would like to partner with us in that way there will be a giving link down below. We have around $4,700 left to raise for the both of us by August 18th!
Again, thank you so much for all your prayers and partnership in the Gospel! We are so blessed by each and every one of you!
Till the last one knows,
Nathanael and Olivia

https://archive.sgwm.com/nathanaelandolivia/nathanaelandolivia/2024/07/08/smells-like-home/

Hello Friends and Family,

We just arrived this Sunday in Mexico! We are very excited about the things the Lord has in store for us in the next few months! We recently got back from our honeymoon and are so blessed by the amazing trip that it was. Now in just two short weeks, we have a big trip coming up! We would like to tell you about the opportunity we have this summer.
This summer we plan to go to the Calvary School of Missions in Mexico. The Calvary School of Missions (CSOM) is a 6-week program that Calvary Chapel Saving Grace puts on every year in Mexico. This program trains and equips young adults to be full-time cross-cultural missionary’s, focusing on the unreached of the world. Some things that go on during the school include classes on missions, outreaches to surrounding churches and neighborhoods in Mexico, hearing and learning from missionary guest speakers, and taking a one-week trip to an unreached village. As many of you know, I (Olivia) have grown up oversees most my life serving with my family as missionaries to various countries around the world. Since I have moved to the States for college, I have had the continual desire and call to go back oversees and continue to serve in that way. This training in Mexico will be such a wonderful opportunity for both Nathanael and I to learn and grow together as a married couple and seek what the Lord has for us regarding missions.
As for me (Nathanael), I had already gone through the school in 2021 so this upcoming summer I have the opportunity to be the assistant director of the school! I am very excited to grow and be stretched in leadership skills and serving alongside a team, while also attending some of the classes and continuing to grow in my desire to reach the unreached!
For both of us to attend the school we will need to raise $5,000. If you guys would like to partner with us and support us in this way, there will be a giving link down below! More importantly though we would like to ask you guys to partner with us through prayer because we truly believe prayer is the most powerful and helpful way to support us!
As we step into this new season of not only seeking the Lord on what He has for our life regarding missions, but also marriage we have some important prayer requests.
That the Lord would speak clearly to us while we are there on what the next steps are for us. That we would be diligent to learn and grow while we are there. That we would have many opportunities to share the gospel with those around us in Mexico. That we would be bold in sharing our faith. That the Lord would bless our marriage and that we can be an example and glorify Him through that. That the Lord would provide financially for us to be able to go through the school.
