As we say goodbye to 2021 and dive into 2022, our hope as Christians, is in Christ alone. Some schools are in session, and some are still online. Here is a summary of the latest happenings at Calvary Chapel Pedregales:

" D estination Dig" was the theme of this year’s VBS. There were 60 kids in attendance due to Covid Precautions. It was great fun for all, servants and kids! We dug into God’s Word and experienced God’s great love through His servants. It is the highlight of the year and always an all-church event. Those who cannot help physically gave food for the meal each day. This was our first year doing this work on our own as a church with no help from the U.S.

He is Risen!

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

This is my life verse! As we celebrated Easter this month, the resurrection of Jesus from the grave is the reason why I am a Christian! I love this special day each year, it is a definite highlight in our church and with family!

Goodbye 2020; Hello 2021!

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Rom. 12:12

The word for me this year is… hope! Hope in the Lord Jesus Christ who is Sovereign. I’m sure we were all are so ready to say good-bye to 2020! A year with much suffering for some, and a “welcome to the kingdom of heaven” for others. This past year has given me a determination to get the message of the gospel out to a dying world more than ever! Here is a little bit of what I have been up to at Calvary Chapel Pedregales in Tijuana, Mexico:

October 2008 Update

We have been so blessed and are enjoying being a part of what God is doing here in Tijuana. The roads are being paved and the giant hill that leads up to our church is one of the hills being paved. We are so thankful for this, as it will be much easier to get in and out with the rainy season coming.

The Lord is continuing to bless the children’s ministry here at Calvary Chapel Pedregales. We are growing! The parents of the kids are coming, little by little and this is an answer to prayer. I praise God for the faithfulness of the teachers here and the special bond that they have with the children. Our prayer is that more will come, and we have faith that God will answer, all in His time. I am holding teacher training seminars at both Calvary Chapel Pedregales and Tijuana once a month, and these are going very well. I’ve been asked to do a teacher training in November at Calvary Fellowship in Guadalajara. I am praying for transportation funds.

Summer, 2020

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and recognize and honor and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Hi everyone! I want to start off first by thanking you for your prayers for me as I serve the Lord in Tijuana, Mexico and for reading this update.

Wow! What a summer! I don’t even know where to begin! We have all been experiencing a different kind of lifestyle with these very different times that we are living in! It has been quite challenging, but my main focus is to “let my light shine before all.” I love the fact that the gospel is getting out to even more people via social media than ever before. Satan has his plans, but God has even bigger plans and always gets the glory in the end!

Calvary Chapel Pedregales August update

We have had such a great time over these past few months with many activities in both churches, all focusing on the family! In August we had our Vacation Bible School with over 100 kids each day. It was for three days, and was a tremendous success; and we did it all by ourselves! The teachers from both churches got together and just decided to plan it and do it!
These are definitely different times that we are living in! We are making adjustments in the way we minister and meet the needs of the people here in Tijuana with the Coronavirus pandemic, as I’m sure you all are as well. We have to be creative, and so far all is well. I am thankful and blessed to serve God in whatever capacity I am able to.
In February, I had the awesome privilege to serve the Lord in different states in Mexico, and this update is dedicated to that three week trip. Our church here in Tijuana has sent out various church plants and I came alongside 13 saints and offered to do teacher training. The theme of the entire trip, and the Pastors/leaders conference in Cuernavaca, was the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

January Update

January proved to be yet another great month of serving Jesus here in Tijuana, Mexico!
I was blessed to be able to attend this year’s Mission’s Conference at Murrieta Hot Springs, and what a great conference it was. It’s always nice seeing old friends and making new ones. To hear how God is working all around the globe–well, there’s nothing quite like that!
Here are a few events that I would like to share with you. Below is a picture of all of us who were able to attend our annual servant’s breakfast in November each year to honor all of those who serve in the church.
Graduation Dinner…

We closed out summer with our annual graduation dinner to honor all those who have graduated from: Primary, Secondary, High School, and College with a big fancy dinner for the graduate and their families. Greetings from Tijuana, Mexico! I wanted to share a little bit with you about what the Lord has been doing in my life here at CC Pedregales in these last few months.

I am still overseeing the Children’s Ministry here at CCP (Calvary Chapel Pedregales). We average about 60 kids on Wed. and Sun. services. I am currently teaching the 9-11 year old class on Wed. nights as we are lacking a teacher for this class. It is a joy to be teaching again, as I’ve been out of the classroom for sometime now, focusing on teacher training.

Fall is here

Hello friends and family,

Well, fall is here and we are grateful for the cooler weather! Summer was a blast here with the kids, we were able to take all 30 kids from our after school program “Amigos del Rey,” (friends of the King), to a water park near Ensenada! Only one child knew how to swim, it was crazy, but fun also. It was a day that these kids will remember for a very long time. For some, it was their first time ever in a pool.

Summer Happenings at Calvary Chapel Pedregales

Hola from beautiful Tijuana Baja CA. It has been too long since writing my last newsletter!

Summer started with a bang here at Calvary Chapel Pedregales with our annual V.B.S. in JunCalvary Chapel Shoreline came again and supported us this summer funding the project. We averaged about 100 kids per day, for 5 days. The theme was “Agency D3”–Discover, Decide, Defend. It was a beautiful and fun way of presenting the gospel and then deciding what to do with all the evidence collected throughout the week of who Jesus was. It was a huge success, and the bretheren from Shoreline were awesome! They helped tremendously with the kids and even had time to build 6 picnic tables for our patio, a closet in Deanna’s house, and various other projects around the church. We are blessed to call them friends and pray that they will be back again next year.

January update

Blessings to all who read this update!

I am looking forward to a blessed 2013 and ready to be used by God how ever He desires to!

AUGUST UPDATE

Summer is winding down, (although you wouldn’t know it with this heat)! We have no a.c. here in Tijuana, so thank Jesus next time you turn your a.c. on!! :)

We had a fabulous Vacation Bible School this year. Our very own teachers planned the whole week, and many adults and youth from the churches helped out. Our theme this year was “Vida Salvaje” (Jungle life), and there was a different Bible verse each day that the kids memorized. Liliana made the Bible stories come to life with all of awesome scenery and sound effects. Once again, God provided!! A big thanks to those who were able to give to help purchase the snacks and all the materials…for this week.

Calvary Chapel Tijuana July Update

Summer is in full swing at Calvary Chapel Pedregales, and the months prior have been very busy here in the Children’s Ministry, and in the church as well.

Since Easter, (my last update), there has been events it seems like every month! We started with “Kid’s Day” on Apr. 30. This is a huge celebration for the children here in Tijuana. It’s similar to Mother’s and Father’s Day in the U.S., but Kid’s Day, (Dia del Nino), is a real big deal here! Well, the kids from CC Pedregales, together with the kids from CC Tijuana, jumped on the bus–(yes, we were able to rent two buses)!!, and headed out for a beautiful park here in Tijuana. It was a cowboy theme, and everyone had a great time!! The kids all wore different colored bandannas (according to the group they were in), and there were relay races, pinatas, cupcakes, prizes for the games, hot dogs, nachos, watermelon, a great drama, worship, all kinds of stuff! Some friends from CC Saving Grace joined us for this very special day. It was so nice for all who were able to go, and for some, it was their very first time at this park!

April Update

“Jesus is risen, He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!”

I am blessed to serve the Lord with the children and people here in Tijuana. We had an absolutely wonderful, blessed Resurrection Day. We all gathered at our men’s discipleship home in Ensenada and heard the Good News of Jesus dying for our sins and being raised up the third day, then ate together and had fun fellowshipping and playing games together. The kids let lots of purple and white balloons go up, up, way up in the sky, just like Jesus went to be with his Father in heaven.

September through November Newsletter

Hola family and friends,

These past few months have been very busy for me, but I must say I am extremely blessed! There are always new challenges and lots of growing opportunities. This September, I accepted a teaching position at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Ensenada. I taught a Tues. morning class of 18 girls ranging in age from 16 to 50+. It is a bilingual college with students from Mexico as well as the U.S. One girl, Mary, came all the way from Nigeria, Africa! The class was based on the life of Ruth and focused on 10 qualities of a godly woman. It was clearly a challenge for me, as I teach children, and this was my first time teaching at an accredited college. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. I enjoyed the class thoroughly and Lord willing, will teach again in the fall of next year.

CALVARY CHAPEL PEDREGLAES November / December Update

Hello All!

Dear friends,

This summer has been extremely busy with many ministry events back to back. We were blessed to be able to minister to the youth, adults, and children with many special events. In September we had the purity conference for all the young ladies, and the women’s conference. These have become annual events. It’s nice to see all of the different Calvary Chapels in north Baja CA come together and participate in these events. I was honored to share at the women’s conference about Miriam the prophetess. The theme of the conference was, “Mujeres Virtuosas,” (Virtuous Women), and each one of us spoke of a different woman of the Bible that was used greatly by God.

June Update

THE LATEST, FROM CALVARY CHAPEL PEDREGALES AND TIJUANA

Well, these months are just flying by! It seems that I am always apologizing for being so late in writing my monthly (well, it has lately become my bi-monthly) updates. I am sorry, again, for the lateness of this newsletter!

Every month seems to be a holiday or an event of some kind that we are doing here, and May and June brought us Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. We always like to do something special, as we have so many kids who come alone to church and these events bring their parents out, so we like to take advantage of that and share the gospel with them.

April 2010 Update

EASTER CELEBRATION, 2010
CALVARY CHAPEL PEDREGALES / TIJUANA “Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead.” Matt.28:6-7 Christ is risen indeed! We celebrated on Easter Sunday with what has now become our annual sunrise service. We all gathered at 6:00 a.m.to worship our risen Lord, just as Mary and Mary Magdalene came to the tomb more than 2,000 years ago to see Jesus. It was a glorious day. The dance group from Pedregales danced a beautiful dance, and about 30 people made decisions to follow Christ. We held the service outside in downtown Tijuana, so that as the sun was rising, we would be hearing the message of our Lord’s great love for us in dying on the cross and rising again three days later. Some people from the area came and joined us, most of which are drug addicts, as this area is where they are all living. Although the sun didn’t come out much that day, the Lord held back the rain which we were so thankful for! Here Is a link to the dance if you would like to watch it. The kids worked hard and did a fine job. The song is in Spanish and talks about the Victory that we have in Christ, that “no longer am I going to cry, I have Jesus in my life.” (Easter Dance–Calvary Chapel Pedregales; Tijuana, B.C. video)

March 2010

Pico Rivera Outreach

I am writing to thank each and every one for your prayers for us this past weekend that God would hold back the rain and He did!!! He is so faithful! Calvary Pico Rivera was here, all 21 of them for the weekend. It rained for most of the time they were here, but for the outreach that we had planned in San Antonio de las Minas, a tiny little village on the outskirts of Ensenada, mostly consisting of indigenous people, it didn’t rain!! It was trying to all day, and the sky looked pretty scary. Well, we set up the tarps, and instruments, and began the outreach. It was so nice! I heard that everybody from the whole village came out. We sang worship songs, the dance group performed, and Pastor Danny gave the gospel message.

December / January 2010 Update

Well, Christmas has come and gone. We celebrated together the birth of our Savior here in Tijuana, and it was beautiful! There is nothing like fellowship with the brethren. There were SO MANY events this past month and “Gracias a Dios” we accomplished everything that we had planned.

December started off with our first annual Mission’s Conference. It was a blessed night with so many of the church in attendance! It was designed to help the saints “catch the vision” of getting involved in the area of missions, and help support those who have gone out from our churches to serve the Lord through prayer and financial support. It was a beautiful night! A dear brother provided for all of our missionaries to be there! Also, Pastor Bryan from Calvary Chapel La Mirada and Jim Hodges from Royal Paper Box in Montebello were guest speakers and encouraged all of us through the Word to get involved. All were blessed, especially the missionaries!

OCTOBER / NOVEMBER, 2009

These last couple of months have been so incredibly busy, and at the same time, BLESSED!! I apologize for this getting out so late. God is so good, and continues to show His awesome power in the changed lives of so many people!

We were honored to share at Calvary Chapel La Mirada, and Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills what the Lord is doing here in Tijuana at our churches. Pastor Chris and I each shared a video and it was so nice to see old friends and meet some new ones also. So many hearts were touched as they watched the videos, and many are excited to be a part of this ministry.

August/Sept. 2009 Update

Well, summer has come and gone, (or has it)?! It is hot here, and we are basking in the Son! I’ve enjoyed a two week vacation this summer, visiting family and friends, and now am home and ready for another school year! I am moved into my new house, along with Meagan. James, Monica, and their son, Christopher, share this beautiful home with us on the weekends. I am thankful to my Lord Jesus for giving me this home.

September, 2009 Update

“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.” (2 Timothy 4:1-2)

Fall is in the air! A new season, and I am excited to see what God is going to do this fall here at Calvary Chapel Pedregales and Tijuana! Here is a little bit of what’s been going on at Calvary Chapel Pedregales and Tijuana:

May/June 2009 Update

Hello to all!

As I ponder the words of Charles Spurgeon:
… “The limitless fullness of His all-sufficiency is as free to the believer as the air he breathes. Christ has put the cup of His love and grace to the believer’s lip and invites him to drink of it forever; if he could empty it, he is welcome to do so, but as he cannot exhaust it, he is invited to drink abundantly, for it is all his own. What truer proof of fellowship can heaven or earth provide?”
I can’t help but think of how much GRACE He gives me, and how I want every day to be more of Him and less of me!

February 2009 update

This month has been an extremely busy month!

The teacher trainings at CC Tijuana and Pedregales are a great blessing every month. Many children are coming to church, and they are really growing in the Lord. We are also preparing for our annual teacher’s conference that will be in May, Lord willing, with Pastor Stef Mitrano and others from Calvary Chapel South Bay.

January 2009 update

Feliz Ano Nuevo! (Happy New Year)!!

We are looking into 2009 with anticipation of what God is going to do here in Tijuana in and through us.

I like the words of C.H. Spurgeon and I pray this prayer for me for 2009:
“…Pray that this year you may be holy, humble, zealous, and patient; have closer communion with Christ, and enter more often into the banqueting-house of His love. Pray that you may be an example and a blessing to others, and that you may live more to the glory of your Master. The motto for this year must be, “Continue . . . in prayer.”

Christmas 2008

Tijuana Mexico

Christmas Outreach, 2008, Pedregales, Tijuana

Well, our annual Christmas gift outreach to the kids of Tijuana this year was a huge success! We gave out fliers promoting the gift giving, and ended up giving out more than 600 gifts!! Our brothers and sisters from Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills brought the gifts and about 70 of them came to help give them out. We had face painting and even a band from CC Tijuana sang Christmas songs. (This band consists of children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old).

September 2008 Update

Tijuana Mexico

September 2008 Update

September Update

We are coming into September with a bang! I will start home schooling the Pastor’s daughters, Christina (5th grade) and Rosemary (7th grade) soon. We are getting all the school material together and ready to go! The school here in the colony where we live is just too dangerous for the girls to attend.

My main focus here is working with the children and teachers. I continue doing teacher training for both of our churches, CC Tijuana and CC Pedregales. The teachers are growing in the Lord and the kids are coming! CC Tijuana is located just as you cross the border into Mexico, in the downtown area, and Pedregales is located about 20 minutes south east up in the hills in a “colony” that is very poor. I live in Pedregales at the church. Many of the kids in Pedregales are the only ones in their families that attend church, so they are bringing Jesus into their homes with the songs they learn, the craft with the Bible verse on it…! And they come, rain or shine week after week. Some of their parents are drug dealers or users, so they really need prayer! We are reaching their parents little by little. I am teaching the 7 – 10 year olds on Wednesday nights, with up to 25 kids, and the Jr. High kids on Sunday mornings. After teaching on Sundays, I then go to our church in downtown to attend the service.
