Where is the best place to be? For us this spring, it was with Gen Z. Who is Gen Z you may ask? Gen Z are those who are currently 18 – 27 years old. Wow – they have energy, life, zeal and they have their whole lives ahead of them. That is what is so exciting because they are also hungry to know God, to be discipled and they are open and willing to GO and serve the Lord wherever He may call them. The best part is, we get a front row seat to invest in the next generation and that has always excited us and still brings us great hope for the future of the ministry from the US to Nepal to Africa and to the ends of the earth.
The Best Place to Be…Is With Gen Z!
In May, we had the honor to teach a class on Missions at the main campus for Calvary Bible Institute (CBI) in Joshua Tree. It was a real treat for both of us to take the years of experience living overseas, the lessons learned and the Word of God and share that with these future pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders. It was thrilling to meet Emily who is a student, whose parents were in our bible study 20 years ago and so many other divine appointments.

Having established several CBI bible college campuses in Asia, it was wonderful to see firsthand about the great steps of faith and hear the miraculous stories of God’s provision, to meet the staff and spend time pouring into the students. Several of the students are preparing to serve in other countries and we cannot wait to see where the Lord takes each of them as they return to their churches, hometowns and head out to reach neighborhoods and the nations!

In June, we took a group of Young Adults to serve in Rosarito, Mexico. It is our original stomping grounds and where we received our missions training. We love to take others and provide an opportunity to GO and fulfill the great commission. It was amazing to see the growth in the ministry as we served alongside 4 of CC Rosarito’s church plants, in the dump, at an orphanage, in a feeding kitchen and at the street fair. The young adults stepped up as Natalie coordinated skits, Hunter shared his testimony and Elaina organized the team learning songs in Spanish to lead the kids. The young adults team served and was as the hands and feet of Jesus! We have a saying, “short-term missions doesn’t change the world, but does make world changers.”

Also, this spring there were outreaches across Asia as we not only teach at CBI Nepal and S. Asia in the classroom, but also take what is being learned and put it into practice. We dedicated a week to taking the students on an in-country missions trip approximately 5 – 6 hours outside the city. The students practiced dances, dramas and 35+ students and staff from one location and 12 from another location took the hope of Jesus to the villages and streets. Many people gathered to hear the Gospel for the first time in these locations.
In each of these CBI locations, we get to be a part of it! They are being taught the Word, they are catching the vision to take the Gospel back to their hometowns and villages, they are burdened to share God’s Word, churches are being planted and communities are being transformed. From Joshua Springs to Mexico to Nepal and S. Asia, the best place to be (in our opinion) is with Gen Z. We are honored that we get to disciple the next generation to reach even more people than we could ever reach on our own, which is truly exciting and bearing much fruit.
Best Person To Be With!
This week Breanna turns 9 years old. We celebrate her life and the blessing she is to us and so many around the world! She is learning piano, dancing on the worship team at VBS, joined a new soccer team, looking forward to being with friends in Peru and Nepal and starting 4th grade.
Prayer Requests:
- Pray for current recruitment of new students for the campuses in Nepal and India and for God to bring just the right people to be equipped for ministry.
- Pray for much wisdom as we have several building projects in Nepal and India and we are helping to navigate a lot of details.
- Pray for the conference we are planning in Nepal in October and for the conference we are teaching at in Peru. There is much planning when gathering many together for a time of teaching and refreshment. We need the Lord’s guidance as we plan, teach, and coordinate the many details.
- Pray for our family as we ramp up for a busy summer and fall missions travel schedule:
August – Peru Teaching at CBI Peru
September – Teaching at South American Pastors & Missions Conference
October – On the ground in Nepal – teaching at CBI Nepal and hosting conferences
November – On the ground in S. Asia – teaching at CBI S. Asia
Thank you for partnering with us to train up Gen Z and send them out to their neighbors and amongst the most hardest to reach nations on planet earth. What an honor, privilege and joy we have been given to serve Jesus in this capacity! It is only because of your prayers, support and partnership in the Gospel and for that we always pray and ask the Lord to bless you abundantly!
Many thanks and much love,
Bond, Heather and Breanna
